The Cruelest Work

I love my country but wish we could change some of our historical events. The Trail of Tears is definitely one of those. The song is told from the perspective of an actual Confederate soldier who served before and throughout the Civil War, yet he wrote that the most horrific things he witnessed were during the forced removal of Native Americans from their tribal lands. Many thanks to David Crawler, Cherokee Nation language expert, for his help in translating "the trail where they cried.”
