Silhouette

"Silhouette" is the single off of Walking on the Wire. Do you know the type of person that would resort to anything to preserve a false image to the world and sees nothing wrong with breaking a few hearts along the way as collateral damage? That's who this song is about.

Runnin’ ‘round this shadow town,
Her wheels are in the gutter,
Lost without a rudder, thoughts of black & white & right & wrong.
Still, I don’t know what she thinks of me
Or anybody else,
Deflecting from herself hides an obsession to belong.

Dreaming life is perfect,
Lounging by the sea,
No accountability for all the damage that she’s done.
She jettisons her memories,
Heartaches from her passage,
Abandoning her baggage makes it easier to run.
She’ll hold your hand up to the candle just to hide the flame.

Chorus: She don’t want nobody to forget
She sees her life in silhouette.
No hazy lines, her palette’s set.
There are no shades of grey in silhouette.

She tells herself it’s all for real
In her pinup masquerade,
Drinking lemonade, too much sugar in the mix.
Filling beds with promises,
Whispers in the dark,
She wraps herself in sparks and feathers just to get her fix.
The flash and fire of desire will crumble in your hands.

She don’t want nobody to forget
She sees her life in silhouette.
No hazy lines, her palette’s set.
There are no shades of grey in silhouette.

Ahh-Ahh-Ahhhhhh Ahh-Ahh-Ahhhhhh

Sometimes when the day is done
She’ll slip into a bath
To wash away the ash, of her lies and noise for all her boys.
And though her misty mirror shows
A flawless female form,
It won’t reflect her torn and tattered drama she employs.
Rehearsed behind the curtain line, but never takes the stage.

She don’t want nobody to forget
She sees her life in silhouette.
No hazy lines, her palette’s set.
There are no shades of grey.
She don’t want nobody to forget
She sees her life in silhouette.
No hazy lines, her palette’s set.
There are no shades of grey…
In silhouette,
In silhouette,
In silhouette.
In silhouette.
