You Reap What You Sow

This song was written about a fisherman who is recovering from the sudden end of a relationship. I never put any lyrics in my songs that are offensive, but this one comes close. LOL! In my concerts, I have people stomp their feet in place of the implied word in the the chorus. It's fun! FYI, a ploy is like a pancake that doesn't get flipped in the skillet, and a coffin door is a 18th/19th century door feature on homes that offered direct access to the home when it was customary for the dead to be waked in the home.

Mourning Dove on the windowsill,
Gone the summer Whip-poor-will.
Falling snow on the pines today.
Sea smoke on the bay.

Cordwood stacked up high and dry.
Wood stove loaded, burning bright.
Mackinaw by the coffin door.
I don’t need you anymore.

Ployes in my skillet, plow on my truck.
For all I care, you can go…
Yourself into a distant memory.

You get whatcha reap,
Reap whatcha sow.
Honey, it musta been quite a blow
When your karma come 'round and finally let you know
You reap what you sow.

You’re the red dawn I adored.
One small taste, I wanted more.
Angel breath and perfect storm,
Halo ‘round your horns.

Rocked me like a thunder hole.
Left me shipwrecked on the shoal.
Rising winds and falling tide
Hit the gas, never said goodbye.

Ployes in my skillet, plow on my truck.
For all I care, you can go…
Yourself into a distant memory.

You get whatcha reap,
Reap whatcha sow.
Honey, it musta been quite a blow
When your karma come 'round and finally let you know
You reap what you sow.

Your friends tell me that you got it bad. (you got it bad)
You never realized just what you had. (just what you had)
I'm here to tell you that this much is true.
Things you do and say have a funny way of coming back to you.

Melting ice and crocus blooms,
Drinking gourd and Flower Moon.
Turn your love into the ground
Celebrate the lost and found.

I got ployes in my skillet, plow on my truck.
For all I care, you can go…
Yourself into a distant memory.
Yeah, a distant memory.

Well, you get whatcha reap,
Reap whatcha sow.
Honey, it musta been quite a blow
When your karma come 'round and finally let you know.
Yeah, ya get whatcha reap,
Reap whatcha sow.
Honey, it musta been quite a blow
When your karma come 'round and finally let you know
You reap what you sow.
You reap what you sow.
You reap what you sow.
