From the recordings Walking on the Wire and Walking on the Wire
I imagined a fisherman and his crew trying to make it back to port during the begginning of a nor'easter. I got writing some co-writing assistance from William J. Hall, who sings harmony, and Noel Paul Stookey, who sings the second verse and harmony.

Batten down the hatches, boys,
A gale is gonna blow.
I can taste it in the air
I can feel it in my bones.
Best we make the dock
Afore the devil storm begins.
Gloryosky! A nor'easter comin' in.
When I left for Fundy Bay,
My lady begged me not to go.
She said, "Darlin, best you stay.
There will be ice and snow."
Well, tell her she was right and
Notify my next of kin cuz
Holy roller! A nor'easter’s comin' in.
Comin' in (A-comin' in),
A-comin' in (A-comin' in)
Sometimes you're fit for losin',
But you win.
Grab your partner, raise your glasses,
Doe-see-doe, and spin.
Great galoshes! A nor'easter comin' in.
Ahhhhhhh/whoa whoa whoa
Comin' in (A-comin' in), A-comin' in (A-comin' in)
Sometimes you're fit for losin',
But you win.
Grab your partner, raise your glasses,
Doe-see-doe, and spin.
Great galoshes! A nor'easter comin' in.
And so we radioed the harbormaster,
"Water's 'cross the bow.
Our nets are crusted in the ice.
We're in His hands now."
Somehow, we made the harbor,
Though our chances, they was slim.
Holy codfish! A nor'easter' comin' in.
C’mon
Comin' in (A-comin' in), A-comin' in (A-comin' in)
Sometimes you're fit for losin',
But you win.
Grab your partner, raise your glasses,
Doe-see-doe, and spin.
Great galoshes! A nor'easter comin' in.
Comin' in (A-comin' in), A-comin' in, (A-comin' in)
Sometimes you're fit for losin',
But you win.
Grab your partner, raise your glasses,
Doe-see-doe, and spin.
Great galoshes! A nor'easter comin' in.
Great galoshes! A nor'easter comin' in.
