From the recordings Walking on the Wire and Walking on the Wire
Do you ever feel like you have a guardian angel? I've felt that way my whole life, and I always thought it was my older sister, whom my mother lost before she was born. My parents were going to name her Susan.

"My Angel and My Warrior"

Susan sends me revelations from her Elysian shore,
Tugging at my consciousness, a muse I can’t ignore,
And I strain to hear her whispering like ghosts outside my sill.
The more I try, the more I never will.
And I’ve never seen a rising sun that wasn’t soon to set,
And I’ve never had a girl that didn’t get stuck in my head,
But I’m drawn toward her thunder cuz it covers up my pain
When I reach out for oblivion, walking on the wire again.
Susan cries a thousand tears
That always wash away my fears.
She’s the starlight through the clouds
That always hangs so near.
She’s my angel and my warrior
Oh, won’t you please just let me in?
Can you feel me? Can you touch me?
Can you see me in this skin?
Can I hear your voice just once
Before you disappear again?
Sometimes from a distance I can see the satellites
Of all my broken dreams as they go spinnin,’ spinnin’ out of sight,
And from the corner of my mind her truth comes creepin’ in.
We can lose ourselves before we can begin.
I see her in the architecture high above my head,
Frozen in the frescos, colored visions of the dead.
She is hovering with the cherubs like my heavenly puppeteer,
Guiding me with gossamer from a realm beyond this sphere.
Susan cries a thousand tears
That always wash away my fears.
She’s the starlight through the clouds
That always hangs so near.
She’s my angel and my warrior
Oh, won’t you please just let me in?
Can you feel me? Can you touch me?
Can you see me in this skin?
Can I hear your voice just one time
Before you disappear again?
We have shivered in the sunrise.
We have been burned by the moonlight.
We have scattered fantasies into the darkness of the nights.
And we have shivered in the sunrise.
We have been burned by the moonlight.
We have scattered fantasies into the darkness of the nights.
And we have shivered in the sunrise.
We have been burned by the moonlight.
We have scattered fantasies into the darkness of the nights.
And, we have shivered in the sunrise.
We have been burned by the moonlight.
We have scattered all our fantasies…
Susan cries a thousand tears
That always wash away my fears.
She’s the starlight through the clouds
That always hangs so near.
She’s my angel and my warrior
Oh, won’t you please just let me in?
But can you, can you feel me? Can you touch me?
Can you see me in this skin?
C’mon, can you feel me? Can you touch me?
Can you see me in this skin?
Can you feel me?
Can you touch me?
Won’t you please just let me in?
Can I hear your voice just one time
Before you disappear again?
